Q：How do I set the scanner so it can read the extra code in magazines?

  • Please refer to the programming guide to set the scanner to Auto discriminate UPC/EAN/JAN Supplemental.


Q：We need to connect the 2D scanner to PC via serial/USB COM communication. The application / host PC needs to send commands to turn on/off scanner triggering.

  • The command can not be sent via serial/USB COM. To send commands to turn on/off scanner triggering, please set the interface to "Symbol Native API" for USB interface or "SSI Host" for RS232 interface with Quick Guide. Then you can send command with SDK.

Q：Does 2D scanner read inverted barcodes?

  • Please use the following barcodes to enable reading for inverted barcodes.

Q：Can I enhance the 2D scanners' IR sensitivity?

  • In presentation mode, selecting Enable Low Light Enhancement causes illumination to remain on at a low power in low lighting conditions. When the engine detects an object in its field of view, it turns on illumination full power. Select Disable Low Light Enhancement to prevent illumination from remaining on under low lighting conditions.






Q：Does Keyboard Simulator support Chinese and Japanese Kanji/Katakana/Hiragana?

  • Yes, please do the below setting and run the tool. 

    1. Set scanner with the barcode below

        For USB interface


      For RS232 interface

                       


    2. Execute KeySimulator

Q：Can I setup the scanner to scan both photos and barcodes?

  • To capture a picture, the 2D scanner needs to be set to "Symbol Native API (SNAPI) with Imaging Interface" for USB device type or "SSI Host" for serial device type. An application with SDK programmed to capture the Image is also required. To read barcodes, you can use Keysimulator to transmit data to Notepad and Word.

Q： How do use virtual-COM port with USB interface?

  • If you use virtual COM port emulation, follow the steps below to start using the scanner.
    1. Execute the CDC Driver(x64).
    2. Connect the scanner USB cable to the host computer. The scanner would give a
    "Do Re Mi" melody when powered on. .
    3. Read the CDC COM Port Emulation barcode at right to set up interface.
    4. On the computer, check Device Manager to see if the computer successfully detects
    the scanner as “Symbol Bar Code Scanner.” (The COM port number would vary



Q：How do I set the 2D scanner to HID mode when connected via serial cable?

  • The 2D scanner can not be set to HID mode when using a serial cable. You can work around it, however, by setting the scanner to "SSI Host" and use keysimulator to transmit barcode data to Windows Notepad or Windows Word in text mode

Q：I am trying to install Symbol SNAPI USB Imaging Driver v1.1.2. Though it is showing installation complete but there is no SNAPI files created.

  • To use the 2D scanner as Symbol Native API (SNAPI), please do: 
    1. Install Symbol SNAPI USB Imaging Driver v1.1.2.exe. 
    2. Set the 2D scanner to Symbol Native API (SNAPI) using Programming Guide. 
    3. The 2D scanner should restart and the Windows Device Manager should detect the device.
Q：The 2D scanner can not be detected by the PC.

  • Please execute the USB virtual-COM driver and re-plug the 2D scanner to the PC. Check again to make sure the COM port is assigned in Device Manager.

Q：How do I set auto scan for 2D scanner?

  • Please refer to the programming guide to set the scanner to Presentation Mode

Q：How do I add a leading tab when a barcode is scanned?

  • Please refer to the user's manual to set the scanner to barcode value: Prefix → 1 → 0 → 0 → 9 → <PREFIX> <DATA> <SUFFIX 1>
